Basel Christmas Market

Wurst. Glühwein. Berliners.

Shaun arrived on Saturday and after quickly dropping off his luggage at home we headed straight over to the Christmas Market.  We shared snacks, including grilled meat (on a huge stick), 1/2 meter wurst in a bun, Berliners of various flavors (vanilla, Toblerone, Bailey's) and of course glühwein.  Matt and Shaun also tried the Feuerzangenbowle, a traditional German drink where a rum-soaked sugarloaf is set on fire and drips into mulled wine.  The name translates literally to "fire-tongs punch".  Theirs didn't have any fire or sugarloaf but it was pretty tasty (and a bit stronger than regular glühwein).  Molly ordered a glühbier because we had to try it at least once.  Yep, it's warm beer with a mulled wine taste.  Not our favorite.  Well, I think we got our fill of Christmas Markets this year!
